The Harken Health plan is a unique, boutique-style health plan offered by UnitedHealth. It is available in the Atlanta and Chicago metro areas. Common health plan features include unlimited primary care visits at no charge; access to health professionals via phone, email, text, and video chat, prescription drug coverage; and mental healthcare classes. There are also fitness classes available at no charge at the 6 Harken healthcare facilities in the Atlanta area and 4 Chicago area locations.

Harken is known for a proactive approach to healthcare, spending twice as much on primary care as compared to other insurers. The healthcare team includes a mix of behavior specialists, membership assistants, and health coaches. And Harken doctors can be reached by phone 24/7. Using an integrated website, members can communicate with health professionals, schedule appointments, view health information, and pay bills at the click of a button.

The Harken network consists of 850,000 physicians and 6,100 healthcare facilities that together serve over 35,000 people. This is because unlike similar plans that generally carry the complaint of too small a network, Harken members have access to UnitedHealth’s large network of doctors and hospitals. Harken offers bronze, silver, and gold tier health plans to individuals. UnitedHealth began selling these plans in January 2016.

Like many insurance companies, Harken Health’s product offerings include PPO plans.
