I have a confession to make: I have found my phone in the refrigerator. More than once.
It’s true. I’m a disorganized person, and not in the secret sense. I’m an out-in-the-open, where-did-I-park-my-car, socks-in-the-couch-cushions sort of disorganized person. I’ve had to make peace with the fact that almost every morning I will spend five minutes frantically hunting for my car keys. My loving family gives me about 15 minutes of leeway to any occasion before they consider me late, and my office-mates jokingly refer to my desk as “The Predator Pen,” because it looks like wild beasts tore something apart there.
In short, I am a great many wonderful things: witty, funny, loyal. But organized is not one of them.
Finding Health Insurance: Was It Too Complicated for Me?
So it’s been really intimidating for me to think about trying to find health insurance. It just seemed so complicated—getting online, researching companies, trying to go site-by-site and compare quotes. And then there’s this question of what subsidies I might qualify for. I can’t even remember where I put my last paycheck, much less last year’s tax return!
Then, when I finally decided that it was really important to figure out how to start this process, a friend told me that I could only sign up for health insurance during something called Open Enrollment. And being me, I was absolutely sure that I had missed it.
HealthMarkets Can Help You Take Advantage of Open Enrollment
But luckily, this same friend told me about HealthMarkets. And that made all the difference. It turns out that all I had to do was make one simple phone call ((800) 304-3414, if you’re wondering!), and a licensed agent reassured me that I had NOT missed Open Enrollment! I have until January 31st to sign up for the right plan, but once I called HealthMarkets, I didn’t need that much time. My agent walked me through the process of finding and applying for the right plan. She also helped me figure out that I qualified for subsidies, and she found me the plan I needed in order to take advantage of them.
HealthMarkets works with more than 200 insurance companies all across the country. They pride themselves on the 3Cs: Choice, Convenience, and Counsel. In my experience, they provided all three.
Trust me—the hardest part of the HealthMarkets experience is finding your phone to call them! Which you should do, IMO. Call (800) 304-3414 right now!
