Health Plan of Nevada was founded in 1982 and is the state’s oldest health maintenance organization. A UnitedHealthcare company, Health Plan of Nevada sells individual and group health insurance and Medicare Advantage plans with prescription drug coverage. The company also participates in the Public Employees Benefits Program.

Individuals can shop for an HMO plan on the exchange or directly through Health Plan of Nevada. Group options include HMO and POS plans for small and large employers. Health Plan of Nevada members living in the Las Vegas Valley and the southern part of the state can use Southwest Medical Associates, a large medical group with 330 providers and 22 care centers.

Health Plan of Nevada has received “Commendable” accreditation status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). UnitedHealthcare was named to the “World’s Most Admired Companies” list multiple times by Fortune magazine.
