UnitedHealthcare of the Midlands Inc. is a health insurance company incorporated in Iowa and Nebraska. It is a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare Inc. All UnitedHealthcare companies are subsidiaries of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated, a health insurance and services company. Through its products and services, UnitedHealthcare services employers, individuals, families, seniors, military personnel, and veterans.

Iowa and Nebraska residents can purchase plans from UnitedHealthcare of the Midlands. It offers Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans, and customers can choose between gold, silver, and bronze levels of coverage.

UnitedHealth Group dates back to a company called Charter Med Incorporated. It was founded by a group of medical professionals in 1974 as a way to give consumers more health insurance options. In the same year that UnitedHealth Group became a publicly traded company (called United HealthCare Corporation at the time), UnitedHealthcare of the Midlands was founded. Since then, UnitedHealthcare of the Midlands has been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

Like many insurance companies, UnitedHealthcare of the Midlands’ product offerings include HMO plans.
